In a collaborative effort between the T. Gilbert Pearson Audubon Society and the American Bird Conservancy, this automated telemetry station utilizes automated antennas to pick up radio signals from tiny "nanotags" placed on migratory species. Now that it is fully operational, the tower will automatically detect passing birds, bats, butterflies and insects, feeding real-time tracking data into a massive global research network. This collaborative community science installation will offer hands-on research opportunities for UNCG students and faculty while advancing crucial regional conservation and biodiversity initiatives. We look forward to its first “ping”!
