Program Description:

Birding Peru – A photographic diary of Ann and Roberta’s Trip to Peru in September of 2025 will be presented.  They visited three distinct regions: the Sacred Valley, birding among archeologic ruins in this high desert habitat; the mountainous area around Machu Picchu that offers birds a subtropical climate; and finally, in the Amazon Basin at the Tambopata Research Center with iconic tropical birds. 

Speaker Bio:

Ann Van Sant and Roberta Newton are emeritus Professors of Physical Therapy who moved to Greensboro from Philadelphia when they retired from Temple University. With Greensboro providing an ideal place to garden and develop their interest in birdwatching, they became master gardeners and joined the PBC 15 years ago. With the help of members of the PBC they expanded their knowledge of Carolina birds by taking advantage of members expertise shared on field trips and monthly meetings. Along the way Ann began to photograph birds they encountered at home and on trips in Guilford and surrounding counties and Roberta helped her identify birds in the pictures she captured. They began to bird during every journey to visit family and friends and have noticed they are now fitting in visits to family and friends on their birding trips. They have visited all the continents and shared these journeys with this club and other groups around the area. Their bucket list of future birding trips is still growing. They look forward to sharing their adventures with other “birders.”

Program begins at 7PM but come a little early and visit with us. All programs are free and open to all.
