Invasive Plant Workday

Please join us at the Audubon Natural Area on November 11 from 10:00-12:00 as we remove Bush Honeysuckle along North Buffalo Creek. This highly invasive plant forms a near monoculture in sections along the creek trail.

We’ll use a combination of mechanical removal and herbicide treatment by cutting the trunks of this deciduous understory shrub, and carefully spot-treating the remaining stumps. The removed plants will be incorporated into existing and new brush piles, creating habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.

Precautions should be taken with ticks and poison Ivy. Tools needed will be  loopers, hand saws, and work gloves as we form into teams to cut, treat, and pile this damaging invader.
