Beginning Birder Workshop "How to Identify Birds"

This workshop will include a 45-minute class focused on building bird identification skills, followed by bird identification practice in the park around the library.

Supervised older children are welcome. No pets, please

Location: Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch Library in Price Park, 1420 Price Park Dr., Greensboro, NC 27410.

Habitat: Indoor classroom followed by a walk on open lawn, at the edge of mixed forest, and around a pond if weather permits.

Provisions needed: Outdoor clothing and closed toe footwear appropriate for the weather; field guide; binoculars if you have them but some loaners provided by Audubon will be available.

Difficulty rating: 1; walking slowly around mowed lawn, some short slopes, and paved walkways.

Special considerations: There will be three Beginning Birder Workshops, one each in fall, winter and spring, but the content of each will be different. A participant may attend one, two, or all three and receive different material each time.

Cancellation: The indoor classroom portion will not be canceled unless the library has to be closed. The outdoor bird walk will be canceled in the event of rain or dangerous weather.

This is a joint activity with the T. Gilbert Pearson Audubon Society and the Piedmont Bird Club.
