Monthly Mtg: "Urban Wildlife" with Arielle Parsons, NC Museum of Natural Sciences

Hear Areille Parsons, of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, speak about the eMammal project and learn about your urban wildlife neighbors.

Most of us assume that urban and suburban areas contain fewer species of mammals than are found in undeveloped rural habitats.

Scientists at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh tested this assumption by using “camera traps” in 1,427 sites with different degrees of urbanization.

Arielle Parsons, an expert on carnivorous mammals of North Carolina, will share the results of this study.

You will be surprised at what they found out!  So come to this special presentation and see how well foxes, coyotes, bears and other mammalian predators can cope with the challenges of urban life.
